วันอีสเตอร์ หรือวันปัสกา เป็นวันเฉลิมฉลองพระเยซูคริสต์ทรงคืนพระชนม์ชีพจากความตาย และเป็นวันสุดท้ายของเทศกาลมหาพรต ที่ชาวคริสต์ต้องระลึกถึงพระมหาทรมานของพระเยซูก่อนที่จะสิ้นพระชนม์บนไม้กางเขน โดยตลอด 40 วันของเทศกาลนี้ เริ่มตั้งแต่วันแรก (วันปาล์มซันเดย์ - Palm Sunday) ชาวคริสต์จะต้องตั้งจิตอธิษฐานรำลึกเหตุการณ์อันทรมานของพระเยซูตามพระคัมภีร์ รวมไปถึงสวดภาวนา บริจาคสิ่งของ อดอาหาร และไม่ฟุ่มเฟือย ดำเนินชีวิตอย่างสมถะที่สุด

วันอีสเตอร์ (Easter Sunday) แต่ละปีจะแตกต่างกันออกไป โดยจะอยู่ในช่วงปลายเดือนมีนาคมถึงเมษายน ในปัจจุบัน ศาสนาคริสต์นิกายต่าง ๆ ได้เห็นตรงกันว่าให้ถือเอาวันอาทิตย์แรกหลังจากวันที่ 21 มีนาคม (Spring Equinox) ที่พระจันทร์เต็มดวง ซึ่งหมายความว่า วันอีสเตอร์ หรือ Easter Sunday ในแต่ละปีจะไม่ตรงกัน โดยจะอยู่ในช่วงระหว่างวันที่ 22 มีนาคม ถึง 25 เมษายน
