Fees for selling on eBay
Fees for selling on eBay
When you sell on eBay, there are 3 types of fees:
- Insertion fees
- This fee is paid whenever you list an item on eBay, even if it doesn't sell
- The insertion fee varies, depending on the listing format you choose and the category you list the item under
- Final value fees
- When your item sells, you'll be charged a final value fee that's based on a percentage of the total cost to the buyer, including postage, packaging and any other related costs
- You'll only pay this fee when your item sells
- Feature fees
- This fee is only paid if you select optional features to increase your chances of a successful sale, e.g. international site visibility, subtitle or picture pack
Total cost of selling item = Insertion fee + Final value fee + Feature fees (if any)
Note: Stated eBay fees include 15% VAT for residents of the EU. Invoices sent to you will quote fees with VAT included. Find out why we use the Luxembourg rate of VAT

Remember that if your item doesn't sell, you don't pay a final value fee. You'll have the option of relisting your item, and if it sells, you could be eligible for a credit on the insertion fee.

What you should know about your eBay fees
- If your seller account is suspended for any reason, any amounts owed will immediately become due and payable. eBay reserves the right to immediately charge any amounts you have not previously disputed to the billing method that you are using.
- Fees pay for the right to sell on eBay. There are times when your listing may not appear when using a keyword or category search until several hours after you have created it. Therefore, eBay cannot guarantee exact listing durations. Learn more about listing durations
- Sellers do not purchase exclusive rights to web pages on eBay. We may, in our sole discretion, and without your consent or payment to you, place third-party advertisements on any web page within our site.
- Insertion fees and optional feature fees are charged at the time of listing and are non-refundable.
- Good 'Til Cancelled renews automatically every 30 days unless all of the items sell, you end the listing, or the listing breaches an eBay policy. Insertion fees are charged every 30 day period.
- eBay requires payment in full each month on accounts with balances of £1 or greater. eBay may suspend your account for non-payment of eBay fees. If you have not paid your outstanding eBay fees after our reminders and warnings, eBay reserves the right to refer your account to an outside collection agency for collection of the outstanding eBay fees. Please note that the collection agency will also charge you a proportionate and reasonable fee for the collection of the unpaid eBay fees, which will vary according to the amount owed and which will be payable in addition to the outstanding eBay fees.
